Your Career as a Property Management Associate

Property managers maintain and enhance the value of a property by overseeing the administrative maintenance of the property as well as various marketing functions such as leasing and administrative functions such as rent collection. They provide services to tenants on behalf of the landlord and maintain positive relationships with the aim of tenant retention. Most property managers oversee multiple properties, specialize in one type of property and are typically paid a salary. Property Management falls into the two main categories, Residential and Commercial.

  1. Residential properties that are tenant-occupied and income-producing may require the services of a property manager.  These properties include multi-unit apartment buildings, residential complexes, multi-unit seniors’ residences, public housing complexes, condominium developments, temporary housing facilities or mobile home parks.
  2. Commercial Property Management can include Retail properties such as shopping malls, office properties such as high rise buildings or low rise parks as well as industrial properties.
